WELCOME TO GRANNIE’S CARIBBEAN GARDEN

Grannie’s Caribbean Garden uses culturally based gardening activities to work with people in the Caribbean and communities in the diaspora for physical, social and mental health wellbeing.

We are a unique creative cultural project that provides a digital platform for our centurions and seniors to share their African and Caribbean heritage globally. We use plants and flowers to stimulate memory of tradition and cultural expression.

As well as our garden in the Caribbean we also have an allotment space in south London, England.

Although the weather is very different, no surprise, we experiment in planting vegetables that you think only grow successfully in the Caribbean. We’ve had great success with okra in the past, this year we plan to be even more adventurous! Check out our allotment blog for updates.

Colours can have a real impact on mood- try to have plants or flowers in your garden that have an array of colours. Red is a colour that conveys passion and confidence, whilst orange is the colour for creativity energy and enthusiasm. Purple/violet creates calmness and spiritual awareness.
